Five Months of Timeless Memories and Everlasting Emotions - Siti Nur Baiduri
Everyday I woke up to the calming sound of waves and refreshing morning breeze with the cheerful chirping of birds around welcoming the sun. Starting the day with the brightest smile and meaningful ‘good morning’ ready for the morning patrols around the island.
How time flies~
5 months have passed leaving those memories and feeling behind together with those memorable people in Tengah Island Conservation. This chapter of my life throughout the internship journey was the best decision I have ever made and I won’t regret anything about it. The new knowledge, the whole different experience, and the emotional roller coaster along the journey couldn’t be expressed with words.
I’ve been struggling in my first few weeks to fit in with the people, the island, and those conservation works yet nothing could beat the excitement to be part of the team. Izzat Hakimi and Aiman Suhaimi as our supervisor had always been part of the learning process as they patiently trained us on our diving skills, sea turtle handling, communication and engagement skills. Apart from that, they also had been guiding us on how to be a good conservationist and build passion in our souls on conservation works.
5 months is more than enough to build a new friendship and everlasting bonds that separation could actually hurt a lot but that is just how life works for us to cherish and appreciate those people and the moments more. To be here has not just improved my learning skills, this place actually helps me grow and improve my life, the way I look at the world and how I should handle my fear of life.
Tengah Island Conservation is more than just a place to me, it is a beautiful and precious memory that would stick with me till the end along with the people who taught me about life.
I hope to feel this breathtaking view, crystal-clear waters, enjoying a colorful sunset bidding farewell to the day, and the enchanting moon with those twinkling stars illuminating the night again with the people that make it precious. If only I could turn back time, this was the part I wanted to experience again and again. Thank you Tengah Island Conservation and its people for this amazing experience and feelings.
